Rachel Burke BA (Hons) Principal Consultant
Rachel is a highly experienced sport/leisure practitioner who joined KKP specifically as part of its expansion of, and the addition of field expertise to, its sports development strategy and indoor built facilities strategies team. Her industry experience and development plan preparation background is extensive and provides an ideal backdrop for the range of projects upon which she works. Her portfolio includes work for a range of local authorities, NGBs and voluntary community and sports organisations.
Having completed a sports studies degree at Edge Hill University, Rachel began her career at the Bolton Lads and Girls Club in 1997 as a volunteer. She gradually accumulated more responsibility culminating in becoming Operations Manager of all sports facilities in 2015. Her responsibilities included inward investment and the health and welfare of staff, amongst the wider management portfolio. As a consequence, she knows Bolton very well as well as bringing extensive knowledge and experience of sports clubs, sports development and facility management to this process
While at Bolton Lads club she was part of a team that has had particular success securing inward investment with agencies such as the Football Foundation, Sport England and local trusts and charitable organisations. As an example, Rachel led the team in securing funding for renovation and development of a new pavilion and full sized 3G pitch (c. £1.9million) in 2016, which had been part of a wider five year business and development plan for the facility.
An outstanding and enthusiastic communicator, her approach is underpinned by an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various key players in Bolton and the sector per se and the dynamics of the inter-relationships between them.
