Paul Barrett

Paul Barrett BSc (Hons) MA Senior Consultant

Paul joined KKP in August 2016 as a Senior Consultant to work specifically on research and consultation and, in the planning environment on indoor and built facilities needs assessments and strategies. His project portfolio already encompasses a wide range of sports facilities strategies and specialist research assignments.

Prior to joining KKP Paul worked as a Sport Development Community Manager at a community school where he upgraded sports facilities and delivered a range of sports projects aimed at engaging the local community. These included delivering large scale programme for local young people, establishing community sports teams and working with disengaged young people to provide training and education. He, thus, has a thorough knowledge of community sport and practical experience of the key drivers which generate participation across a variety of growth sectors.

He has extensive project management background; on both large and small projects. He has also successfully secured significant funding for both capital and revenue projects from agencies ranging from Sport England to BBC Children in Need. To achieve this, Paul prides himself on undertaking thorough and in-depth consultation, demonstrating high quality interpersonal skills, across all platforms to highlight community requirements.

Prior to working in sport, he worked as a transport planner in both the private and public sectors delivering initiatives to encourage sustainable transport. Projects ranged from working with North West businesses developing car share programmes at large business parks to engaging with schools to promote walking and cycling through the national Safer Routes to School programme. He retains a keen interest in sport and is an executive member of his local athletics’ club and regularly competes both regionally and nationally. Paul recently gained an MA in Sports Development at Manchester Metropolitan University.
