Chris Macfarlane BA (Hons), Dip TP Director/Principal Consultant

Chris, KKP’s first class planning and open/green spaces specialist, joined KKP’s open space team in early 2009 from Groundwork, where he had been involved in the creation and delivery of an 18 month strategy for a community nature site. Prior to this, he worked on regional spatial planning in the North West where he supported the preparation and process of a Public Examination for the Draft North West Regional Spatial Strategy.

He runs our open and green spaces portfolio, conducts consultation to assess need and audit provision and leads on the evaluation of local minimum provision standards, putting his planning background plus his natural numerical and analytical ability to good use. He also works closely with the Company GIS team providing catchment mapping to illustrate, for example, gaps in open space provision.

With both a degree and a post-graduate diploma in town planning, he brings extensive and very strong complementary skills and knowledge to our needs assessments and strategies. He attained Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

As KKP’s in-house planning consultant, we are able to lean on his contemporary understanding of policy and legislation to ensure clients are provided with the most relevant, applicable and up to date policy recommendations.
