Sport specific strategies

KKP produces national strategies and specialist facilities strategies for a range of sports and has specifically produced several sports facilities strategies for national governing bodies of sport (NGBs):

  • The FA - KKP's sequence of strategic facility planning assignments have formed the basis for investment in the community game, aided the optimisation of opportunities arising from the BSF programme and enabled cross-sport collaborative approaches with other NGBs.
  • England Basketball - John Eady managed the ‘Mallin' strategic review of England and UK basketball for the DCMS/Sport England.
  • Rugby Football Union - KKP devised its World Class Plan, strategy for the England Schools RFU and he RFU England Academy strategy.
  • The Rugby Football League - We delivered a national facility mapping exercise that accentuated the key factors impacting upon provision of appropriate facilities covering elite, network and local elements.
  • Scottish Swimming - In 2008, we developed a strategic regional approach to the management and delivery of swimming incorporating clubs and talent development structures, funding, governance and operations.
  • British Judo Association - KKP conducted an extensive audit of existing club and facility bases, consulting with over 100 clubs and agencies nationally. We reviewed British Judo's plans to develop elite facilities and associated club development planning template to secure funds to establish five new facilities for the sport across England.
  • British Gymnastics - We presented a comprehensive national audit of existing provisions and a hierarchy relating to performance and priorities for investment.

We bring in-depth knowledge and experience of a wide spectrum of sports covering team, individual, indoor, outdoor and water sports and hence can provide challenging and practical frameworks for improvement. Over the years, we have developed good working relationships with national and regional NGB staff and have, on numerous occasions, been called upon to advise and support strategic planning officers.

The key is to leave a legacy of understanding, efficiency, effectiveness and confidence. Our approach is, thus, geared to building capacity and embedding expertise in managing not just the strategy development process but the ongoing implementation and intelligence framework within the lead organisation.
