Facilities strategies

Driven by the ageing stock of facilities, housing development and Government investment programmes such as BSF, this is a key focus area at every level. National and regional agencies, sports partnerships and local authorities are all keen to develop and work to strategic plans for improvement, investment and the protection of sports facilities.

  • Southampton City Council - in 2009, we delivered a Facilities Improvement Strategy based on PPG17 criteria to carry out a robust supply and demand assessment.
  • North East Lincolnshire Council - our comprehensive facilities development plan completely restructured provision in the Authority and underpinned BSF planning and development.
  • Leicester-Shire & Rutland - KKP's detailed audit and analysis of provision across the County incorporated BSF, rationalisation, expansion and co-location with other provision.
  • Birmingham City Council - our extensive consultation, site audit and GIS based mapping analysis developed a new network plan for sports provision across Birmingham.
  • Derry City Council - we conducted a facilities review and strategy alongside development of proposals for major regional centre of excellence/Olympic camp venue.
  • North Lanarkshire Council - we delivered a comprehensive facilities development plan to completely restructure provision in the Authority.

We look to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, introduce mechanisms to attract and optimise capital investment, develop provision hierarchies and improve sustainability. Testament to our success is the millions of pounds in Lottery, BSF and developer contributions based investment secured up and down the country on the back of our assessments and strategies.
