Specification and design

site options appraisalWorking either with the appointed architects, or with practices with which we work on a regular basis, we bring to bear our operational management experiences and apply sound business planning principles to support facility development and design.

  • 50m pools - in supporting the development of Sunderland's Aquatics Centre, we were instrumental in enhancing the original project specification for the complex which is now up and running. We are now working with Sunderland City Council on Phase 2 of the project - a major dry sports facilty.
  • Leisure centres - we were asked to work directly with Knowsley MBC's appointed architects to find ways  of reducing the capital cost of the proposed Halewood Leisure Centre by 25%, without fundamentally delimiting project ambition and the facility mix. This was achieved, Lottery funding was gained and the facility is now open and operational.
  • Whole authority facility renewal - for North East Lincolnshire Council, we developed outline complementary specifications and initial designs to both underpin plans to rationalise and refurbish its existing stock while developing new free-standing and school based facilities.
  • Indoor adventure facilities - in this project, working with Bradford City Council we assessed of a range of facility combinations and a selection of locations. Building upon a market analysis and evaluation of trends in extreme and adventurous sports, we assisted the client to pin down what combination would work best, where and why.
  • Multi-sports club - in this project, working for Lancaster City Council, we evaluated a number of potential sits to re-locate three sports clubs linked to the sale of a single club site for housing.
