Feasibility studies
From financial and market appraisals to modelling current and potential demand we lead the field in undertaking feasibility studies across the sector. Typically, this incorporates:
- Market analysis - research and assessment, demographic profiling, community needs evaluation, forecasting current and future demand.
- Audit of existing and planned provision - comprehensive site options appraisals to assess potential for development, taking account of what already exists.
- Identification of need - extensive consultation to identify the need within the study area, not only considering what the facility requires but also how it should be operated to maximise impact.
- Stakeholder consultation - market evaluation and building model programmes to underpin business planning and operational management cost appraisal.
- Facility mix - modelling different combinations to reflect demand assessment, capital and revenue cost parameters, potential impact and stakeholder requirements.
- Financial appraisal - developing robust activity programmes to calculate income projections and likely operational costs, factoring in the likely cost benefits of likely management models.
Our tried and tested approach is underpinned by consultant support and advice on operational structures, management options, funding and programming. There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing a project we helped to conceive, get off the ground:
- Scotland's National Indoor Sports Arena - in an assignment also linked to assessing the future of the Kelvin Hall, we provided Glasgow City Council with a site options appraisal, first stage designs and costs to inform decision-making about the new National ISA. It is now being developed as a key venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
- A World first - we delivered an all-inclusive financial and market appraisal for the planned "World of Rugby" visitor attraction in Rugby, Warwickshire.
- The full package - KKP provided Knowsley MBC with business planning, funding and design support to realise its two most recent state of the art sports facilities in Halewood and Kirkby.
- Sports villages - we have supported several of the latest villages delivered including the £6.5million Litherland Sports Park (opened by UK Sports Minister Richard Caborn in 2006) and Bolton's Leverhulme Park (also completed in 2006).
- Stadia and grounds - preparing the business and operational plan for Sedgley Park RUFC's new facilities, we secured Lottery and related funding, which has underpinned its ascent to First Division Rugby.
- Creative industries hub - working for Yorkshire Forward, we assessed the market and options for venue location. We prepared a business plan for a potential facility of varying scales incorporating elements such as exhibition, training, incubation, conferences and events spaces.
- Regeneration - on behalf of South Yorkshire Renaissance, we evaluated the feasibility of a range of sport and leisure-based options for site investment and development of a colliery site in Sheffield.
We recognise (and are prepared to tell you) that not every proposal is feasible, but we try our utmost to find workable solutions to ensure that your investment is optimised.
