Performance management and market intelligence

Performance management is the effective use of (internally generated and externally sourced) management information to inform policy, service planning evaluation and investment.

We support many local authorities in this area, and our client base has grown, in part since the advent of Best Value and comprehensive performance appraisals in the public sector, and in part because we have become the market leaders in this area of provision. Our varied portfolio of successful projects includes:

  • Using management information about residents and customers to drive pricing strategy for leisure services.
  • Reviewing charging policy for sports services to establish best practice systems and processes – and supporting the adoption of this across other council services.
  • Developing innovative performance management systems; these generate data and intelligence, which informs and influences delivery and demonstrates the impact of differing types of investment in sport.
  • Evaluating key factors that affect local participation.
  • Using data to improve understanding of drivers and barriers - influencing national strategies and the allocation of investment.
  • Developing multi stage performance management systems to monitor the impact and progress of “stretch targets” to increase participation in the arts, drama, music and creative activities.

Our bank of resources (including GIS mapping, Mosaic and market research capability) enables us to ensure that robust systems are developed providing meaningful information and making a positive contribution to future strategies.

The key to success – understanding customers, markets, users and non-users to drive decision-making.
