Clubmark

Link to www.clubmark.org.ukClubmark is the national, Sport England led quality accreditation scheme for high quality junior sports clubs.

Licensed national governing bodies of sport (NGBs) and county sport partnerships (CSPs) are empowered to award Clubmark to proven high quality clubs.

We were commissioned to manage the strategic development and operational delivery of Clubmark in April 2006 and the contract has now been extended until the beginning of 2011.

Active_accessible_accreditedThe national scheme, which has been in place since 2002, at the point when KKP took over its management had 1,250 clubs. It now boasts over 4,450 accredited clubs across more than 35 sports with another 4,200 clubs actively working towards achieving accreditation (figures as at September 08).

Clare MacLeod, KKP’s National Clubmark Manager works closely with partners and stakeholders across the sector to embed the Scheme’s reliability and robustness and broaden its reach.

Working closely with Sport England, NGBs and CSPs at national and regional levels, we are on course to reach our initial target for accredited clubs and aim to have 10,000 by the time of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The areas of work that we deliver for Clubmark are wide ranging and include:

  • Overseeing and supporting the licensing process for NGBs and CSPs.
  • Delivering training programmes for assessors and lead officers.
  • Introducing comprehensive performance management systems to gather and interpret data and share vital information.
  • Moderating Clubmark impact on clubs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Marketing and promoting of Clubmark, and in particular the universal branding of quality clubs, to raise awareness and profile throughout England.
  • Developing the range of benefits to which Clubmark accredited clubs are entitled; encouraging stakeholders to recognise and reward accredited clubs.
  • Expanding the reach of Clubmark to disability sector.

Over the past 18 months the profile and management of Clubmark has improved immensely. As a sport that has fully embraced the programme and seen the benefits of clubs achieving the standard it has been a huge benefit to us that cohesive and efficient administration of the programme has been established. We are kept fully informed and have a greater opportunity to be part of any future direction the programme may take. The web site information as well as the lists of accredited clubs are well managed and provide another opportunity to promote our Clubmark clubs outside the sport… Mark Beecher, Deputy Director British Judo
