National governing bodies of sport (NGBs) are pivotal to the national drive to increase participation in sport. The opportunities and challenges of major forthcoming sporting events such as London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 are also a key focus for all sports.

We work closely with NGBs across the UK, providing strategic and operational support including organisational reviews, workforce planning, executive recruitment, database development and club development support:

  • The Mallin Basketball Review - we managed the national organisational review of England Basketball in England.
  • A World Class Plan - we researched, planned and negotiated the £8million Lottery support for Rugby's innovative, visionary World Class Plan which mapped the current configuration of elite rugby. We set out the structure for player development, RFU England academies and the current Performance Directorate.
  • Moving the goalposts  - we worked with the FA to prepare guidance designed to optimise opportunities emanating from the Government's Building Schools for the Future' programme. This describes and reinforces good practice in the design, development and maintenance of all forms of sports provision in schools.
  • National development plan - our national facilities strategy and associated club development planning template assisted British Judo to secure funds to establish five new facilities for the sport across England.
  • Turning the game on its head - KKP mapped out the RFU's innovative club-centred approach to developing the community game and its new national club development process.
  • Clubmark - we manage Clubmark for Sport England and more than 30 NGBs, developing first and second tier licensing, overall scheme development, external verification and nationally networked assessor training delivery.
  • Modernising sport - we reviewed and updated the governance of the British Aikido Board, building sustainable foundations for the development of the sport - this was followed by the production of its five year development plan.
  • National facilities strategy - we delivered a comprehensive national facilities strategy for British Gymnastics, auditing all existing provision and developing a hierarchy related to both performance and priorities for investment. This followed comparable national strategies for England Netball, Rugby League and Judo.
  • Unearthing and illustrating attitudes to sport - on behalf of the ABAE we have conducted a national survey of boxing stakeholders to assess the social and economic, as well as the sporting and individual character building value and impact of boxing.
  • Major recruitment processes - we managed a world-wide and domestic recruitment and appointment process for the 30 RFU England academy managers, assistant managers and the new head of the community game.
  • Local area planning - we developed, tested and rolled out the FA's local facilities planning template, forming the basis for future investment in the community game.
  • Swimmer centred pathway to excellence - bringing a disparate range of agencies together our proposal for a new competitive swimmer pathway for Edinburgh addressed the previously fractured system and brought confidence to the relationships between Scottish Swimming and the other partners involved.
  • Challenge, mentor and advise - we sit on the Panel of the Scottish Governing Body Support Programme that provides governance and leadership advice, facilitation and other support to increase capacity and intellectual resources to lead, manage and develop.

"KKP helped us to turn a corner. The team have handled a delicate and sensitive situation with tact and a firm hand; just what was required. Creating a swimmer centred pathway that is owned and managed by the clubs is a solution that gives confidence to Scottish Swimming and other funding partners". Ally Whike, Performance Director - Scottish Swimming
