Developing strategies for events
Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008
KKP was an integral element of the team that secured Capital of Culture status for Liverpool. It led the sports section of the bid, ensuring that the City's enormous sporting heritage was prominent in both the submission and subsequent programme of activities.
European Amateur Boxing Championships 2008
KKP prepared the successful bid submission document for Liverpool City Council and the English Amateur Boxing Association. The highly regarded bid (the result of extensive research and innovation) was successful in the face of very strong competition from several cities across Europe. It will be the largest sporting event in the Capital of Culture programme and is a key pre-Beijing Olympics qualification championship. Over 500 participants from throughout Europe will compete in what is a significant opportunity to showcase and develop the sport in the City, region and across the UK.
Sunderland Events Strategy
KKP's event strategy for Sunderland has identified how the City can best position itself in England and the UK as a key venue for large scale events. It incorporates formulas to identify, quantify and prioritise investment and to gauge the economic and cultural impact of the City's substantial events programme. Supported by detailed proposals for the development of Herrington Country Park into a naturally significant venue, this mould-breaking study is one of the first in the Country to put events into the context of long-term corporate marketing and repositioning strategy and to develop a strategic rationale for their provision.
Events in Birmingham
Birmingham has long had a strong track record of staging major events such as the 2003 World Indoor Athletics Championships. KKP's review of events in the City assessed the extent to which they are aligned with core strategic priorities and made recommendations designed to ensure that maximum sports development benefits were achieved.
