triangle Forewarned is forearmed

If you know about something before it happens, are you more prepared? Or as is possibly more fitting for our industry, does heeding the warning stimulate us to prepare for trouble, or just to keep our heads down?

In this edition, we focus on the power of information and foresight and how in our experience this leads to better outcomes, decisions and a more defensible position.

Illustrating the point is our piece on our "Heineken" research - in which we reach the parts that others don't. Try also our articles on Somerset and North East Lincolnshire, prime examples of local authorities planning innovative solutions to their BSF investment, underpinned by KKP facilities planning support and our drive to embed ‘real community use'.

As many of you will already know, we are passionate about this subject and it does not take much to motivate me get the soapbox out! It gets another airing this month as I offer a perspective on how BSF is working following my recent invitation to address the House of Commons All Party Sports Caucus on this subject at the end of March.

Finally, John Maude, Chief Executive at North Country Leisure provides insight from his own soapbox, on his favourite topic of leisure pricing. Our thanks to John for taking time to vent his views - other contributions gratefully received.

...South by South West

The South West is one of the most attractive parts of Europe, with its enviable blend of coastline, countryside, towns and villages; but is it also envied for its sport and leisure provision?
