KKP News - Edition 4
June 2008
- Our call for clarity on the 5 hour offer
- Read how the RFU is turning the game on its head...
- Sport - the key to regeneration in Sunderland
Welcome to the next edition of KKP News - hopefully some light relief from the usual hype and hot air!
We are stimulating debate. In the point of view section we publish a "right to reply" from Neil Chaisty General Manager of the Tameside Sports Trust, stirred by a feature in our last edition.
Our own broken record; management information, also resurfaces this month. For years the sector has ambled along in Rumsfeld territory; "we don't know what we know and we don't know what we don't know". On the surface, this is changing; before long we'll all have spreadsheets and a ton of data on our desks - but do we really know what it is telling us and how to use it? If this sounds familiar, read our article; ‘making sense of the numbers'.
Our clients are currently doing just that; from the ABAE which is looking to unearth people's real perceptions about boxing to the third round of our highly regarded Strata census surveys.
Finally, a brief footnote about the 17th National Sports Development Seminar. The short-lived attempt by the Leisure Management Review to ensure this long standing event did not disappear has now been legally blocked by ISPAL as it is now, apparently, its property. Something is planned for September - but who knows what!
John Eady
Chief Executive

Making sense of numbers
Is a woman who eats biscuits and chocolate, drinks alcohol, and smokes more likely to feel out of place in an art gallery if she lives in Vale Royal than a man who eats five pieces of fruit a day, doesn't smoke, drinks regularly, has given up sport due to other commitments and lives in Preston?
The bottom line (apart from the fact that we can tell you the answer) is, in all honesty, who cares?
