- University and local authority collaboration - a marriage made to last
- Feasibility study leads to a World first!
- Bring on the Tsar to maximise Olympic legacy
| Reminiscing, reflecting and moving forward |
Believe it or not, this month KKP celebrates its 18th year in the business. Highlights include seeing the Sunderland Aquatics Centre, Halewood and Kirkby leisure centres, Astley Sports Centre and many others upon which we have worked - up and open. Read about our involvement in some of these below. This, in some cases, links directly to our high quality work on PPG17 which has seen many £millions levered into the development of new and improved sport & play provision and open spaces.
A personal highlight is England Rugby's progress in elite performance and its support for its club network plus our work with other sports including Basketball, Judo, Football and Boxing. As Beijing coverage swamps the airways; take a minute to consider the relative power of pre- and post-Olympic legacy.
But it's not all about the past. This year our portfolio has expanded in areas including the economic impact of sport, sport-based visitor attractions and in the University sector as the potential contribution of sports provision to student recruitment and retention is fully realised. This is picked up in Dave McHendry's piece on the merits of university and community collaboration.
And as is now customary, a brief sideswipe on the current state of play in the industry. We were recently asked to cough up just under £1,000 to renew our ‘corporate' membership of ISPAL; we'll certainly consider it but only if anyone can actually tell me what it stands for?
