Sport England North West has commissioned Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to conduct a scoping exercise to underpin an investigation into ‘the state of the region'.
This will incorporate review of existing and ‘needed' performance data plus an appraisal of the requirements of relevant stakeholders within the region. The intention is, ultimately, to enable an accurate picture to be painted in relation to progress towards achievement of Sport England's key outcome of increasing participation in sport and physical activity.
The study will provide a barometer to facilitate understanding of the current situation and to enable accurate forecasting and anticipatory planning.
It will incorporate a desktop review of the initial results of the Active People survey, face to face consultation with a range of key consultees and the hosting of a strategic level consultation workshop with key decision makers in the region.
Dave Hewson, Head of Delivery at Sport England is leading the process. He said, "we have an abundance of data from many areas of sport and physical activity. To be used effectively this must be turned into knowledge so we can meet and marry national priorities for both Government and sport with local needs. We are utilising the expertise of KKP in this field to ensure that the focus is placed in the right areas and opportunities are maximised."
