New visitor attraction for Rugby

The Rugby Town Centre Company has appointed Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) and Prince Research Consultants (PRC) to undertake a financial and market appraisal of a proposal to create a World of Rugby visitor attraction incorporating interactive, information and educational facilities in Rugby.

The Rugby Town Centre Company in partnership with Rugby Borough, Warwickshire County Council and the International Rugby Board, is seeking to develop a rugby themed visitor attraction as part of a wider initiative that supports local and national economic and tourism development strategies. The study will ensure that the proposed development is suitable for the market, commercially sound and meets both local and wider agendas.  It will help to inform the architectural proposals, connecting them directly to the project's objectives, thereby ensuring that the scheme meets visitor requirements and expectations in an imaginative and memorable experience.

The combination of the two companies aligns their complementary and extensive expertise to deliver a thorough, well-informed assessment.  The client will benefit from PRC's specialist knowledge in cultural, museum and historic landscape attractions and KKP's proven track record in feasibility studies, business planning and market research for the sport and leisure markets; this has been gained through the delivery of projects for over 250 English and Scottish local authorities, commercial clients, national governing bodies, national and regional agencies.

KKP is also the UK's leading specialist in work with, in and around rugby union. It led the six-year planning process, which led to the establishment of the sport's World Class plan and ultimately led to the restructure of the RFU.

Commenting on the project, Peter Millward said, " The World of Rugby is a particularly interesting and attractive project that has enthused both companies.  KKP and PRC are committed to a thorough feasibility study for a scheme that has the potential to be of national and even international sporting significance whilst at the same time being an enjoyable and fun experience for all concerned."
