Mixed facility proposal to unite young and old

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (BMDC) has commissioned Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to undertake a twin-element study. It will investigate the feasibility of provision of a synthetic indoor crown green bowls facility and, either separate or linked to this, an indoor youth park (to include skate-park, climbing wall, high ropes, café and associated facilities).

Our approach will incorporate detailed site assessments using a tested site scoring matrix taking account of issues such as location, access, appropriateness and transport. Consultation will also be undertaken with young people through the Youth Partnership, CBMDC officers and the Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association to identify facility need in the BD10 area.

The comprehensive assessment process is scheduled for completion in March 2008 and will result in a final report that:

  • Assesses the scope and appeal of an indoor youth park and crown green bowls centre.
  • Details requirements for each facility and the appropriate facility mix.
  • Examines potential sites to house the new facility(ies).
  • Outlines the capital and revenue implications of the development.
  • Assess management options.
  • Provides clear direction on providing these facilities in Bradford.

KKP will lead the project, with technical input from Good & Tillotson architects.

KKP is one of the country's leading feasibility study specialists; from small-scale developments to major visitor attractions. We bring experience of facility management, business planning and an extensive track record in community consultation, especially in regeneration areas and projects that involve working with young people.
