KKP to provide strategic support for the Cornwall Sports Partnership

The Cornwall Sports Partnership has commissioned Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to provide strategic support for key priority projects. Jonathan Woods, who manages KKP's South West office will focus on specific areas of work including:

  • Establishing the County's Community Sports Networks (CSNs) by the end of March 2008. In all six will have been set up, of which one will be embedded and effective with an action plan in place. This will ensure that regional Sport England targets are met.
  • Specifying and developing a coaching officer role for the County to realise the natural ambition to professionalise coaching. This will involve liaison with the SSP, local authority and agencies such as Sports Coach UK to determine key requirements in the County, completing the application for CIF funding and managing the subsequent recruitment for the post.

In addition, Jonathan will also oversee Cornwall Sports Partnership accreditation submission for equality and child protection.

This is a role that KKP is ideally placed to deliver based both upon its expertise in work on and with CSPs and because of the background and experience of staff located in the Company's South West office. Its successful track record in applying for external funding and other complementary projects such as the recent review of the South West Regional Sports Board has also been a factor in the selection of KKP to take on this role. This additional hands on experience of establishing and embedding CSNs will further strengthen KKP's portfolio of support for other CSPs and regions delivering work in this field.
