Knight Kavanagh & Page has been appointed to assist Nottinghamshire County Council's (NCC's) Sports Service to develop its new strategic plan.

The County Council, awarded Beacon status in 2006, has, over an extended period, become the hub of a sophisticated multi agency sports development network across Nottinghamshire; a network has achieved a wide and impressive range of outcomes for the people of the County. The Council is keen to enhance the sense of ownership and engagement of future plans and further build partnerships with those involved.

This project is scheduled for completion by early April 2008. Over this, short, time period, KKP's staged approach will cover:

• Development of a strategic vision and associated aims and objectives.
• Clarifying and determining the role and rationale for the Sports Service.
• Assessing relationships within core teams and wider partners.
• Strategic planning based on research, consultation and an evaluation of an existing strategic plan.
• Service planning to map the future path of the Sports Service and its response to key challenges and changing circumstances.

In addition, KKP will support and advise the leadership team to implement the plan, taking account of issues associated with job evaluation, pay scales, staff recruitment and retention.
