Bournemouth and Poole Borough Councils (BBC and PBC) have commissioned Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to provide a PPG17 compliant sport and recreation facilities assessment for Bournemouth and Poole.
The project will incorporate the assessment of each PPG17 typology, the evaluation of the distribution of facilities together with comprehensive user consultation, analysis and identification of current unmet demand. KKP will also assess the impact and implications of national, regional and local initiatives and demographic trends.
Bournemouth and Poole boasts high profile leisure facilities including two championship golf courses and the Littledown Centre; situated within 47 acres of picturesque parkland with some of the finest leisure facilities in the country. The centre has received a number of architectural awards since opening in 1989. Watersports is also highly significant in the region; due to their nature these facilities will necessitate a bespoke approach, similar to that adopted recently for the open space, sport and recreational facilities audit and assessment KKP conducted for Weymouth & Portland Borough Council (WPBC).
KKP is one of the leading management consultancy practices, specialising in sport, leisure, culture and open spaces. In recent years, it has conducted more than 50 comprehensive open space, sport, recreation and playing pitch studies across the UK. It has a well-earned reputation for expert community consultation and quality fieldwork. The company's experience of such projects will be utilised to ensure that the councils will be able to meet the future needs of their residents and visitors.
