It’s childs play…

As part of Knight, Kavanagh & Page's commitment to customer satisfaction, the consultants regularly contact clients to understand the successful outcomes that result from the services provided. This month KKP is proud to announce the receipt of a double dose of positive feedback regarding projects undertaken developing play strategies for local authorities.

Firstly, following KKP's work in developing a play strategy for West Lancashire District Council (WLDC), the council has been able to secure half a million pounds of external funding to develop play provision in the District. A focus on inclusion and engagement has provided a strong basis for WLDC's application to the Big Lottery Fund.

In addition, KKP developed a 10-year play and urban games strategy and action plan for Sunderland City Council (SCC). SCC is now actively implementing the strategy recommendations and as a result has a growing network of new and improved play provision. Providing client feedback on the project, Alison O'Neill, Assistant Head of Community Services at SCC said; " Working closely with KKP, Sunderland City Council has formulated a clear direction for play in the City. We are particularly pleased with the clear action plan now adopted by our play team. KKP clearly engaged with young people through their extensive consultation. It is pleasing to witness the increase in play activity following implementation of the Strategy".

The timing of this feedback is opportune given the current funding available to local authorities through the Big Lottery Funds Children's Play Programme. Recognised expertise in this field places KKP in a strong position to be able to support local authorities across the UK in the development of play strategies and hence secure a share of the £124m funding available.
