The British Aikido Board prepare for the future

In 2001 the Government established, through UK Sport, the Modernisation Programme, designed to help sport's governing bodies respond to change, by finding innovative ways to improve their structures and systems, developing a winning culture that will thenableem to increase participation and develop talent.

In response to this programme, the British Aikido Board (BAB), supported by the Central Council for Physical Recreation (the CCPR), has recently commissioned Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to review and update the governance of the national governing body.

The BAB represents the interests of those involved in Aikido at local, national, and international level. The Board is composed of directly elected members, and representatives of specialist and regional committees and national associations.

KKP will support the BAB to develop its vision for Aikido, articulate this vision to the current and anticipated membership and establish structures to support effective administration, performance and development.

The outcome of the review will be improved clarity about the BAB's role and function, greater capacity to meet the demand for increased participation in Aikido, an improved financial position and enhanced credibility and standing with key national sporting bodies.
