Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) has appointed Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to review its provision of sport and recreation services. As part of this process, KKP will develop a five-year strategy for the delivery of efficient, effective, fit for purpose, twenty-first century, sport and recreation services within the County Borough, identifying key actions and priorities to take the strategy forward. The assignment has three phases:
The review will be conducted within the (Welsh) national context of "Making the Connections" and "Climbing Higher", the Council's Community Strategy and Government initiatives to ‘extend schools'. Outcomes are expected to build upon the strong working relationship currently established within the local authority area and with external partners.
BCBC and other South Wales local authorities have (individually and collectively) utilised KKP's expertise across a number of areas, such as a Best Value review, biennial surveys of Year 6 and Year 9 pupils and recent work to identify the potential for greater partnership working across South East Wales. This latest project underpins the forward thinking approach adopted by the Council by examining all aspects of sports provision and their delivery. It offers scope to challenge current practices and make recommendations that can be practically delivered through an integrated strategy and action plan.
