The 2012 sporting legacy for the North West

Sport England North West has commissioned Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to develop a regional strategy to ensure that the Region contributes fully to, and gains fully from the sporting opportunities that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will present. The strategy will ensure that the North West builds effectively upon its proud sporting and cultural tradition and takes this chance to further develop existing frameworks for sport.

As part of this exciting, challenging assignment and working closely with key organisations in the region, KKP will develop initial and draft strategies and manage the related consultation process. This will encompass dialogue with strategic regional bodies, sport, local authorities, business and commerce, development and regeneration agencies plus those representing specific communities of interest. It will be designed to ensure that the North West derives maximum economic, sporting and social benefit and provides its population with every opportunity to engage with London 2012.

KKP is ideally placed to deliver this project, in terms of expertise and geographical location. It brings to this assignment, an experienced team with high level expertise in sports strategy planning and national pre-eminence in sports development. Commenting on the project, John Eady (Chief Executive) said, "the key to getting the most from London 2102 is to get the pre and post games legacy planning undertaken now. The region has, given its existing strengths, the opportunity to gain significantly from the London Games but only if it has plans in place and the relevant agencies are collaborating effectively. This strategy will be a key part of the long-term process to achieve this."
