In July 2010, KKP was selected by Sport England as an approved supplier to its Strategic Planning Framework for Sport, approved across three panels: Needs Assessments, Playing Pitch Strategies, and Sport Specific Facility Strategies . This reinforces both the recognised high quality of our work and the expertise of our consultants. Meet the Framework team...

John Eady heads the Framework for KKP and is the lead consultant on the Sport Specific Facility Strategies Group producing and reviewing facility strategies for NGBs. The founder and chief executive of KKP, he has 25 years operational, strategic management, consultancy and research experience.

He has led NGB facility strategies for Judo, Rugby League, Netball and Gymnastics and is presently working again with England Netball to scope the work required for its new plan. KKP is also working with England Gymnastics to develop standardised local facilities planning devices. John also developed the widely used specialist performance facilities study for 38 sports for Sport England in London and the South East.

As KKP's driving force, he has a wide ranging portfolio of clients across the sectors. His knowledge and expertise means that he is often called upon to tackle complex or troubleshooting assignments and he is used by a range of agencies to scrutinise, challenge and deliver innovative, thought-provoking solutions.

Claire Fallon is an experienced principal consultant with nearly a decade of experience at KKP. She is the lead consultant on the Playing Pitch Strategies Group and is also a key member of the panel undertaking needs assessments.

Claire has been instrumental in the development and ongoing improvement of KKP's PPG17 portfolio, leading more than 60 related studies encompassing open space, sport and recreation facilities. She is currently providing expert input to the review of Towards a Level Playing Field.

She has a reputation as a first-rate communicator and this is accompanied by excellent project management skills and assignment flexibility.

Jonathan Woods is the lead consultant on the Needs Assessment Group, undertaking assessments and audits for local authorities in accordance with PPG17 guidance.

With more than 15 years operational and strategic experience, Jonathan (Principal Consultant) manages KKP's South West office. A leading exponent of PPG17 compliant needs assessments, over the last five years he has managed a diverse range of needs assessments of open spaces, built facilities and playing pitches, providing evidence for LDF and other planning processes to secure developer contributions, underpin asset management decisions and focus investment strategies.

His proven ability to work effectively with clients and develop their trust is demonstrated by his ongoing advisory role with several South West local authorities.

John, Claire and Jonathan are supported by a well-established, strong team of KKP staff, each playing a vital role:

  • Sports specific facilities strategies - principal consultants Dave McHendry, Peter Millward and Clare MacLeod are all recognised across the sector for driving facility development providing strategic advice to local authorities and conducting market appraisals, feasibility studies and business plans ranging from facilities of national or regional significance to local and club facilities serving local communities.
  • Playing pitches - Louise Hunsley and Kirsty Freely have collectively worked on the delivery of more than 30 playing pitch strategies across the UK from Sunderland to Southampton.

"We were very happy with the team... ...and how knowledgeable all members of the team were about the project.... They were very flexible attending meetings and travelling down to East Herts for interviews with officers and clubs. We are sure that the final reports will be used to great effect." Jenny Pierce, Senior Planning Officer, East Herts Council

  • Needs assessments - are supported by KKP's GIS/ICT team. This manages and develops database and mapping functions. These technical experts and industry specialists manipulate raw data in a variety of forms to get the most from information gathered utilising Mapinfo software to inform and support all our planning services and enhance interpretation and understanding of responses, data, networks and relationships.
