Many KKP projects and service areas are synonymous with our principal consultants so, for a change, we thought we would focus on the preliminary work, background research and support invested by those behind the scenes at KKP.
Janet Reed and John Bradford form KKP's GIS (geographical information systems) and ICT (information and communication technology) Team. They manage and develop database and mapping functions - the backbone of many projects in our wide ranging portfolio of general and specialist work.
Janet is our GIS/ICT Manager and recently celebrated 10 years at KKP. Her highly rated, thorough and analytical nature has led her to become an authority on GIS mapping, successfully managing related processes for all relevant KKP projects. Additionally, Janet runs internal and external web survey management, database development and related processing for all work areas.
John has been with KKP on a full-time basis since 2008 (having worked on a part-time basis for the Company prior to this). He provides mapping and database support across a range of projects. He is also responsible for the mapping, database management and analysis of records for the 10,900 Clubmark accredited and the further 5,000 ‘working towards' clubs for which KKP co-ordinates and delivers Sport England's national programme. John manages the flow of data, mapping and a range of support services to ensure that Clubmark is consistently up-to-date; his organisational skills and knowledge of all things Clubmark are widely praised by colleagues and clients alike.
Both Janet and John are technical and industry specialists, adept at manipulating raw data into a range of forms via expert knowledge of research tools such as Snap, Excel and Access-based processes, Mosaic, Mintel, Mapinfo and Sport England's Active People and Active Places.
The team has extensive information technology, GIS, database development, questionnaire design, gravity modelling and market research experience. Specialists in GIS mapping to present data through techniques such as isochromatic/isodistance catchment analysis; thematic mapping; topographical mapping based and demographic analysis, they now work to support 90% of all Company projects.
KKP's GIS is considered to be the most sophisticated in the sector. It is a key analytical tool to support performance measurement, making it easier to understand and interpret data using industry software such as MapInfo to provide pictorial maps covering survey responses and data.
The team also delivers directly commissioned bespoke mapping projects for clients and has also developed area profiles for all 354 local authorities in England. These incorporated key data, text, graphics and maps covering location, demographics, population density, benefits data, Index of Deprivation data (health and multiple index), Active People, Active Places and Mosaic. They are supplemented by inclusion of recent ONS population projections to 2026.
"KKP provided an entirely new level of detail in our analysis of data for the different sectors which compromise the regional economy. (Its findings) will form a key aspect of the Regional Economic Strategy" Emma Charnock, Information Manager, NWDA
