From 1st October 2011, the integrated Clubmark and runningsports Programme is being developed, delivered and managed by KKP.
It incorporates Clubmark accreditation (recognising minimum operating standards for sports clubs) and the development of the volunteer and club development resource package (runningsports), with the overall aim of increasing participation in sport.
Working alongside NGB and CSP partners, the Programme is to be expanded in order to be more flexible, offer new and different activities and have a much broader reach to the full range of people and agencies delivering sport and physical activity opportunity. It will also support Sport England's drive to achieve growth in participation through more informal activity.
John Eady, Chief Executive said,
"KKP will work with the full range of partners at all levels to proactively deliver programmes that get to the heart of grass roots sport: supporting and providing opportunities for volunteers and clubs at all stages of development."
Prior to this contract award, KKP has successfully operated Clubmark since 2006. It achieved the stated target - to accredit 10,000 clubs by 2012 - more than 13 months ahead of schedule and has enlisted 36 licensed CSPs and 33 licensed NGBs to the scheme.
Under the new contract, KKP will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the new combined Programme
- Undertake a strategic overhaul to reposition and develop the Programme in order to better align it with Sport England's objectives
- Develop innovative products and activities and a market leading resource suite to support community clubs and volunteers
- Produce a full logistical plan of programme delivery components
- Implement a marketing and communication plan to enhance the Programme reach
The new Programme will be officially launched in early 2012 and throughout the integration process, both runningsports and Clubmark will be developed and overhauled while operating under their own brands.
KKP will continue to work with partners and users of both schemes to ensure that a smooth transition to the new, up-rated and improved Programme is achieved.
