Lancaster City Council retain KKP’s services

Lancaster City Council has retained the services of Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to undertake stage two of a study to assess the feasibility of developing a sports facility in the town of Carnforth.

Initial work, funded by Carnforth Area Regeneration Partnership (CARP) as part of the NWDA MTI funding, concluded that a joint sports facility for football, cricket and rugby in Carnforth is feasible, but that a number of key issues required further detailed investigation.

The next stage will comprise consultation with landowners, further project development to support the purchase and sale of land plus the completion and submission of the outline planning application on behalf of the clubs and the City Council. KKP will then revise the business plan for the development based on the identified facility mix, governance structure, sports development plans and usage profile for the facility.

Commenting on the project, David McHendry (Prinicpal Consultant) said, "We are pleased to be offered the opportunity to continue working with the clubs and Lancaster City Council on this exciting project.  The issues identified have highlighted the challenges faced and we hope that the next stage will be a platform that launches and underpins the future success of this multi-sports club."
