KKP to review role and development for leisure trust

Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) has appointed Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to determine whether the current User Agreement with Belper Leisure Centre Trust provides value for money and delivers best value services to local residents.

As with all reviews there are key hurdles to overcome to ensure that the service contributes to relevant national and regional strategies as well as the Council's corporate objectives. Additionally it is vital that all partners understand each other's role, challenges and the influences that will enable a sustainable service to be developed.

KKP's experience of working with councils, trusts and arms length organisations is extensive.  David McHendry (Principal Consultant) manages many of the Company's projects in this field and has, for example, for Tameside Sports Trust recently developed a company strategy linked to its 5-year grant agreement and performance management framework.

KKP has also recently supported Trafford MBC and the Trafford Community Leisure Trust on work associated with the transfer of the Council's sports development function into the Trust and with Ribble Valley Borough Council on a review of future management arrangements for the Edisford Sports Complex.

Its portfolio in this area demonstrates its capacity to undertake complex studies in politically sensitive environments ranging from trust and council relationship issues through to central government reviews linked to the 2012 Olympics.
