Last month, organisations such as the National Trust took advantage of the extra day in February by spending time to improve their environmental footprint.
KKP followed suit by assessing the small changes everyone can make in everyday life to become more environmentally friendly. From switching off printers and lights to car sharing and declining plastic carrier bags in the supermarket, everyone played a part.
Each member of the KKP team conducted an on-line audit to test his/her green credentials and then made individual pledges to improve further. Commitments made ranged from switching to energy saving light bulbs, requesting household bills online as opposed to paper... but by far the most popular pledge was composting, at home and in the office - we have now expanded our office recycling system to include a compost bucket for fruit peelings and tea bags!!
At KKP we take our corporate responsibility seriously and regularly review our Environmental Policy to make further advances and improvements.
Victoria Taylor, Consultant and Environment Officer at KKP led this recent environmental push. She said "The nature of our work means that we are environmentally aware. Many of our projects involve developing strategies for open spaces but we also like to play a practical role too."
Every year, on KKP's designated ‘Environment Day', employees take time out of their hectic schedules to help out at a local nature reserve, clearing ponds, felling trees and creating pathways around the 17 acre site.
