KKP review Solihull's exercise referral scheme
The ‘DocSpot' exercise referral scheme (ERS) provides practical support for GP practices and other health services in Solihull. Each year, between 500-800 people are referred onto a 12-week exercise programme based at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre, North Solihull Sports Centre, Solihull College Fitness Suite, Lode Heath School & Sports College or Pink's Fitness for Ladies.
The review involves:
- Assessing its effectiveness and outcomes (since 2005).
- Mapping and analysing take up and impact.
- Ascertaining opinions about its effectiveness and possible improvements.
- Interrogating the views of current (or former) attendees on the DocSpot scheme and process.
Recommendations will be made with regard to its future shape and development, taking into consideration local infrastructure, services, political landscape and national policy.
KKP is ideally placed to deliver this, having worked on the development and implementation of major exercise referral and recommendation systems and programmes in Trafford, Tameside, Sunderland and Preston. KKP has also recently completed a comprehensive review and mapping exercise of physical activity provision, including ERSs, across the 17 PCTs and 67 local authorities in the South East of England on behalf of the Department of Health.
