Borough of Telford & Wrekin to build schools for the future

Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) has been appointed to prepare an indoor sports and physical activity facilities strategy for the Borough of Telford & Wrekin (BT&W). The company will develop a strategy to meet the requirements of PPG17 and provide robust and objective justification for future provision of accessible, high quality, financially sustainable facilities for sport and physical activity throughout the Borough.

The study will play a key role in determining the future direction of two key policies in the Borough. Proposals developed by KKP will be fundamental to ensure adequate community provision is developed though the Building Schools for the Future programme, which is seeing several schools being rebuilt. Sport and leisure provision proposals will also be at the heart of the redevelopment of Telford Town Centre. KKP will examine the opportunities presented by the 2012 Olympic Games and its city-region status.

KKP is ideally placed to deliver this project. It follows recent success supporting the development of the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Sports Partnership and hence the Company has a strong and thorough understanding of the regional, sub-regional and local context within which the plan must be developed. It also brings extensive experience of sports facilities strategies - most notably for Birmingham and Sunderland that involved strategic plans to support the development of 50m swimming pools and associated facilities.
