Trusts and private leisure operators
Local authorities have several options when deciding how best to deliver leisure services. These include establishing a trust or contracting out to a private leisure operator. We support clients to determine the best course of action via management options appraisals and also provide a full range of services to trusts and private sector clients.
Our core expertise in this field is built on long-term direct experience of managing facilities and sports development. We work with a range of retained clients and deliver ‘as and when' support in strategic and financial planning, governance and management, procurement and development and improvement of partnership arrangements with local authorities, schools, colleges, private sector investors and other partners.
- Ongoing support - From devising the Company strategy linked to a 5-year grant agreement and performance management framework to assisting with development of service level agreements for management of school sports facilities Tameside Sports Trust retains KKP to support its strategic planning and business development processes.
- Integrating sports development into a trust - Having managed the consultation with key parties and staff and evaluated the major issues related to staffing, finance and performance, KKP recommended and developed the core principles that underpin the incorporation of the Trafford MBC Leisure and Sports Development Unit (SDU) into Trafford Community Leisure Trust.
- Partnership brokering - We were employed to broker and develop the relationship between Bolton MBC and Serco - the contractor employed to operate the Borough's leisure facilities. Fundamental to the success of this was the Company's understanding of how to translate sports development outcomes into facility operation requirements and targets.
- Innovative employment practice - We were instrumental in the early development of Salford Community Leisure Ltd's acclaimed programme to support community-based employment initiatives for ex-offenders.
