Expertise
With over 18 years operational experience including eleven in consultancy, David has a well rounded perspective of the leisure sector.
He brings both strategic and operational thinking drawn from a career that encompasses strategic and business planning, service improvements, opening new and re-developing existing sports facilities, plus management of sports development programmes. His business planning capacity to combine financial acuity with service delivery understanding and familiarity with what constitutes good performance makes him a ‘go to' person for clients seeking to guarantee service stability and improve financial performance.
He oversees management options appraisals, procurement and feasibility studies for KKP, advising local authorities and trusts. He also brings substantial experience of public private partnerships ranging from full operational contracts to capital investment; this is enhanced by his background in PFI and its utilisation - particularly in the education sector. His client base extends to major UK universities such as University of Manchester, MMU, Northampton, Sheffield Hallam and Leeds. His grasp of key issues and ability to generate accurate, flexible business plan and full lifecycle cost models is demonstrated by the range of multi-partner, cross-environment studies delivered over the last five years.
David keeps up-to-date with industry and sector changes and is conscious of the evolving requirements of our client base - with efficiency, effectiveness and value for money being key themes at present.
He holds strong interpersonal skills and is recognised for responding to client requests, often even before the need is recognised. He is commercially minded and customer focused - an ideal mix for maximising the potential of future opportunities.
These skills are put to good use in his work on business modelling and planning. His extensive major facility management and development experience is brought to bear to support business planning for capital development projects and revenue based programmes designed to boost income generation.
